Emeritus award winners
John & Dominique de Menil
Theirs is the story of Houston: Emigrated from France, led Schlumberger, made great art accessible to the region, fought for civil rights, and left awe-inspiring public spaces dedicated to spirit, compassion, and peace nestled into a living Houston neighborhood.
Excellence award winner
As president of Central Houston and Director of the Downtown Management District, Bob Eury has encouraged and facilitated walkable urbanism in downtown Houston. His early vision for a polycentric region of rich walkable activity centers informed the work of Houston Tomorrow and he has been a successful advocate for greater planning and livability throughout the region.
Engaged award winner
Christof Spieler has been the central intellectual figure in the broad civic discussion about transit service in Houston for at least a decade. His new System Reimagining plan has transformed the local bus network to one that serves many job centers and enables larger numbers of people to reduce their dependence on cars.
Evolving award winner
Jaime González has led education efforts at the Katy Prairie Conservancy for several years, but is now known as a leader of the broader environmental and conservation movement in the Houston region. He leads the Coastal Prairie Partnership and is devoted to improving the quality of life and the quality of nature in the Houston region.

We appreciate everyone for joining us in an evening to celebrate these individuals and all the good work being done for Houston. We enjoyed being able to honor them together, and are excited for all the work ahead!
The Houston Tomorrow Catalyst Awards recognize and honor those whose ideas and actions change and improve the quality of Houstonians’ lives. Houston Tomorrow searches out, encourages, and works with those catalysts to create positive change that will help us achieve our vision of Houston being home to the healthiest, happiest, most prosperous people in America by our 200th birthday in 2036.
